Setup IFTTT Social Syndication
To automatically send links of your blog posts to Twitter and Facebook audiences we will setup a system called ‘IFTTT’. Although a bit of a mouthful – it stands for ‘if this, then that’ – and is an amazing system for taking the work out of your social media (and other) sharing processes. This is done by connecting different SERVICES(called channels before) and create APPLETS(called Recipes before).
Service – It is the term for the wide range of apps and tools users can utilize and connect.
Applet – It connects services together in order to offer users different experiences. There is almost no limit in what you can do with your Applet using the various services available on the site.
Creating an Account
Go to IFTTT Homepage
You now have access to the site
Searching and Activating Services
For Facebook users, if you don’t want to use your personal account, use Facebook Page.
Add all Social Media Channels where you have an account.
There are two ways of using Applets, first is by using pre-made Applets and the other one is creating your own. It would be best to use these Applets which are already created and enjoyed by thousands of IFTTT users.
The first thing that you have to do is to automate the process of sharing your WordPress posts to your different social media profiles. You want to make sure that posts get promoted in social media for better exposure. In the samples below, we present ways on how to utilize pre-made applets triggered by a WordPress Post.
On our Sample we Published a New Post
Using Pre-Made Applets – Sharing WordPress Post to Facebook Page
There is an option to add an ingredient which allows you to add more elements on the message.
After everything is set click save
After adding this Appet, every time a post is published in your WordPress site, it will automatically reflect in your Facebook Page
Using Pre-Made Applets – Tweet WordPress Posts
Since Twitter only allows you 140 Characters for your tweet, it is best to change the default text ((New Post on my Blog)) to ”New Post” only. Be sure that your title is not too long.
Here is a good post to read from Twitter : Doing more with 140 Characters
After adding this Appet, every time a post is published in your WordPress site, it will be tweeted.
Continue adding Applets that connect WordPress Posts with other social media channels you have.
Creating your Own Applet
This Applet wil notify you via Email when someone follows you on twitter.
